Who Is Your-Self? What Is Your Work?

by Randall Rogers on September 6, 2011

To ‘break free’ (from where you are to where you want to be), like all things, is a process. It first requires knowing two foundational things: 1) who is my-self? and 2) what is my work?

To know one’s self, is to know soul. Specifically, it means to know desires of soul. To know one’s work, on the other hand, is to know one’s purpose in life. Because few people have been schooled/trained in the art and practice of ‘descending within to affect without’, few know who one’s true self is. That is, few people know soul. For most people, soul is that internal voice that occasional comes into view; occassionaly speaks to us about self and life. Although we may somewhat ‘hear’ the voice of soul, few people act on the voice of soul. Therein lies the problem. Without conversing with soul, without knowing soul, one cannot effectively transform one’s life. A similar type of problem exists when one is not sure of what one’s work should or ought to be. This latter problem describes most people’s lives where people work in a profession/role that does not represent passion; does not reflect ‘doing what I love and loving what I do’.

Tragically, the result from not knowing ‘who is my-self’ and ‘what is my work’, is a life diminished. Life does not have to play out this way. With time, patience, courage, and enthusiasm you can determine such things about your-self. Years ago, I was in perhaps the same boat as you in that not only did I not know soul (or desires of soul), I did not know of my hidden passions. And the lack of such self intimacy resulted in great suffering. If you find yourself not knowing the answers to these two fundamental questions, you must act immediately to learn of such things to enable you to transform your life. The path to answer both questions begins with getting in touch with the ‘inner’ you. Hold on! Before you get anxious and tune out, please know that both of my books ‘Only 1 Shot: Aligning the Inner Soul with Action’ and ‘Breaking Free: The Ultimate Guide to Living Your Passion’ were both written for the beginner. With expert instruction and over 200+ illustrations to guide your way, both books can help you answer the questions above.

Know this: to answer the questions above, is to find a new place to start.
